On September 3rd, Kagrra, delighted fans with a live in Shibuya celebrating a decade of music making.
Kagrra, celebrated the completion of ten years with the release of a new song, their live Kagrra, 10th Anniversary Hyakkiyakou during which numerous themes were used, and various events with fans. The live house tour Angya Hyakkiyakou ~in~ was the name of ghostly apparitions familiar to each area. And this time they were able to go to their home town, Tokyo.
Just in time the show started with the SE. The members appeared on stage wearing costumes based on traditional Japanese clothing. Vocalist Isshi appeared last, wearing a mask of a female demon.
The show started with Oniyuu no uta, and fans were used in accompaniment to the music. Akiya’s guitar solo in Tsuki ni murakumo hana ni amewas very impressive, and Shin's koto really established Kagrra,’s world. The koto and rock sounds were able to fuse together to make the beautiful songs that only Kagrra, can do. During Gion, the audience was fascinated by Isshi’s hand choreography.
The next three pieces were all Kagrra, remakes of songs familiar for the Japanese audience. When they finished by playing the hopeless melody of Shizuku, the audience broke into applause.
Isshi then addressed the crowd, saying, "Hello,Tokyo! We performed at the Shanghai expo as representatives of Japan in August. Today is the fifth show in this tour. Please keep following us!"
During Sai, the members and audience all spun their towels in the air. Bassist Nao riled up the crowd, yelling "Come on! Shibuya!” when they played Kamikaze, to which the fans responded by punching the air enthusiastically.
Isshi announced the next song, Shiroi uso, asking the audience to use their fans. "Even if it's your first time seeing Kagrra, it's very simple so please give it a try!"
After that they brought everyone in the hall together by playing some of their standard live songs Kotodama, Arishihi no bishou and Urei.
For the encore, they changed their parts, so that Nao became the vocalist, Isshi was on guitar, Akiya on bass, Shin on drums, and with that line-up they played Sai. Each time they changed their part so fans could see a different Kagrra,. Nao, wearing kimono, said to the crowd, “Are you ready Shibuya?! Spin your towels!” The fans were enthused and whirled their towels in the air. After that the members returned to their original parts.
Isshi then addressed the hall: “We want to show our gratitude to our home Tokyo. So we have a surprise for you." With that they played the famous song Setsunaru kotoba, to the delight and amazement of their fans. Isshi then said, “The five of us have been playing together for ten years, but you all have given us the place to play music. Thank you so much.”
For the last song, Sakura maichiru ano oka de, a mirror ball revolved and shined throughout the hall. The audience sang loudly when Isshi held his mic out to them, and he sang along without the mic.
The vocalist then gave some parting words: “Today’s live was so great! We play each live like it's the final. We’ll be back so please wait for us!” The live ended with huge applause from the crowd.
Any time, any place, Kagrra, play perfectly as professionals. In this tour, for the enjoyment of their fans, each live had a different theme for each locality. Ten years have passed, and let's hope they will continue to perform their unique music for their fans not only in Japan but all over the world.
