This year’s edition of
Japan Day @ Central Park will be held on May 22nd in New York City’s Central Park, Rumsey Playfield and Bandshell area.
In light of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan,
Japan Day @ Central Park, a major cultural event now in its fifth year, has organized a galvanizing stage performance with other family friendly activities with the theme GANBARE JAPAN! (You can do it, Japan!). This year’s
Japan Day @ Central Park is intended to bring together New Yorkers in solidarity with the people and nation of Japan as they strive to recover from this disaster.
One of the Japanese artists performing will be singer-songwriter
Mai Fukui from Kyoto and another will be jazz artist
Keiko Matsui. Amongst the various performances on Summer Stage,
AISHA, who is half-Japanese and half-American, has been invited as a finale performer of
ACT TWO and she revealed that she will be performing with renowned rapper
Darryl “DMC” McDaniels from the legendary
Run DMC for a one-and-only special collaboration onstage.
