HASYMO's Video Contest, New Release

The Yellow Magic Orchestra, formed by Haruomi Hosono, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yukihiro Takahashi, and having also performed under the name Human Audio Sponge following a reunion in 2004, are back with a new single and a new name. Combining their two names, HASYMO released the four track The City of Light / Tokyo Town Pages on August 6th and are now holding a video contest for the release, which features tracks that reflect the shadow and light of Tokyo in a condensed version of YMO's thirty year history. Details about the HASYMO video contest are below:

The video contest will be judged by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yukihiro Takahashi and Haruomi Hosono!

Step one is to buy the new single, The City of Light / Tokyo Town Pages, or download it for free at the contest page. Note that once it hits 30,000 downloads, the download will be automatically disabled, so those who wish to participate should waste no time in getting started!

Step Two is to upload your original video, using the tracks The City of Light and Tokyo Town Pages, to YouTube and add the video to the HASYMO Music Video Group. Keep in mind that videos that violate public morality and other copyrights will be rejected.

The contest is already underway and will run until September 30th, so participants still have a number of weeks to produce their videos, which will be be judged by the members of HASYMO, with one winning the HASYMO Award and being announced on the official site. The winning video will also be viewable to the public as The City of Light / Tokyo Town Pages official music video!

A few things to keep in mind are that the use of the downloaded track is strictly limited to this contest and any other use is forbidden, there is no limit to the length of the video and the copyright of the winning video belongs to the applicant, though commmons may replicate, premiere, exhibit and play the video without notice. Participants are not allowed to make any changes to the track within the video and the winner will be notified via his or her registered YouTube account following the judging.

To anyone planning to take part in this contest, good luck!
