Hikaru Utada Celebrates Release of Greatest Hits Album with Countdown Campaign
A special campaign is currently in progress to count down to the release of Hikaru Utada's greatest hits album "SCIENCE FICTION", including the daily unveiling of 4K-enhanced music videos and a travel mug giveaway.
As previously reported, pop singer Hikaru Utada will be releasing their first greatest hits album SCIENCE FICTION on April 10th.
To celebrate, a special countdown campaign was also launched recently. The campaign will take fans on a journey through Utada’s musical evolution, from debut hit Automatic to early tracks like First Love and later period highlights such as
2016’s Sakura Nagashi.
A total of 22 4K-enhanced music videos will be premiered daily on the artist’s official YouTube channel until the release of SCIENCE FICTION. Japanese music video director Wataru Takeishi has enhanced the videos,
presenting Utada’s past works with “unparalleled clarity and visual fidelity using cutting-edge technology”. Each video features the original audio from its initial release, making these videos distinct from the many re-recorded and remixed versions of
the songs that will be featured on SCIENCE FICTION.
Additionally, digital zines for every song featured on SCIENCE FICTION will be released, complete with music video stills, cover art and interviews related to each. The zines will be available on Utada’s official social media platforms, including Instagram, X (Twitter) and TikTok.
Furthermore, fans are invited to take part in a social media campaign. A “digital pop” image will be distributed on X (Twitter) by the @hikki_staff account, encouraging fans to share their stories about Hikaru Utada by responding to provided
questions, “recommended songs” and “your story,” which will appear over the image. Among those who participate by posting their personalized digital pop image along with the hashtag “#HikaruUtada25th”, 100 winners will be randomly selected via lottery
to receive an exclusive SCIENCE FICTION travel mug.
