SAEKO, the power metal project of vocalist Saeko Kitamae, will make a comeback later this year after a thirteen-year hiatus.

Kitamae began her career in Japan the late '90s with power metal band Fairy Mirror. She started SAEKO in 2003, and became the first Asian woman to perform at German metal festival Wacken Open Air in 2005. Having released two albums, various circumstances forced Kitamae to suspend her European activities in 2006.

Then, back in January, Kitamae launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of SAEKO's third album. The session musicians will be Trick or Treat guitarist Guido Benedetti, Rhapsody of Fire bassist Alessandro Sala and ex-Metalium drummer Michael Ehré.

SAEKO plan for the album to be finished by September this year. They plan to distribute it digitally in October, with a physical release following in November.
