BOOM BOOM SATELLITES frontman Kawashima Michiyuki passed away due to a brain tumour on October 9th. He was just 47 years old.

A private funeral service will be held for Kawashima's close friends and family, and a special farewell event will follow at a later date to allow fans to pay their respects.

In a message posted on their official website, his bandmate Nakano Masayuki stated that Kawashima has finally been released from his ailing body, and that he can imagine him flying freely around the world now. He also thanked the fans profusely for supporting both Kawashima and BOOM BOOM SATELLITES throughout their long career.

With a legacy spanning over two decades, the acclaimed electronic duo just brought their activities to an end this year after Kawashima's long struggle with reoccurring brain tumours left him with partial paralysis. Despite his failing health, BOOM BOOM SATELLITES still managed to release one final EP, LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME, in June.
