LADYBABY will release their debut single, Nippon Manjyu, on July 29th.
The group is led by Ladybeard, a cross-dressing singer and professional wrestler from Australia who has been performing in Japan since 2013. Ladybeard teamed up with junior idols Rie Kaneko and Rei Kuromiya earlier this year and formed LADYBABY.
Much like BABYMETAL, the group combine elements of J-pop and metal. Ladybeard has described their style of music as "kawaiicore". The group's debut single is a nod to everything Japanese, and it has already amounted two million views on YouTube after only one week.
LADYBABY are currently doing promotional work for the costume company Clearstone by wearing their outfits. In exchange, the company is funding the group.
Nippon Manjyu will be released in one CD+DVD edition featuring two tracks and the music video for Nippon Manjyu. The group will be playing several upcoming shows including AOMORI ROCK FESTIVAL '15.
