AKB48 Announce New Sister Group

Idol group AKB48 have announced the establishment of a new sister group: NGT48.

NGT48 will be based in the city of Niigata, where the group's theatre is scheduled to open on October 1st. Auditions for the first generation of members will begin in March.

The announcement was made on January 25th, at the conclusion of the five-day event AKB48 Request Hour Set List Best 1035 2015 at Tokyo Dome City Hall.
