AKB48 Members Injured During Handshake Event

19-year old Rina Kawaei and 18-year old Anna Iriyama, members of popular idol group AKB48, were attacked during a handshake event in Iwate Prefecture yesterday.

A man wielding a saw attacked the members of the band, injuring Kawaei and Iriyama, as well as a staff member. All three were immediately rushed to a hospital by ambulance, and it has been stated that their injuries are not life-threatening.

The culprit has been arrested and is being investigated on suspicion of attempted murder.
