5150 was founded in 2007 as a doujin rock project (doujin are non-official self-published works, comparable to "indies" overseas). However, since 2009, 5150 has reinvented itself as one of the leading purveyors of heavy metal based on the music of the Touhou Project video games. They've also released a string of original releases in-between Touhou-based works. Led by one-man band Ryu-5150 and illustrator Asuka, this wildly prolific group makes heavy use of guest vocalists.
