A Day with Megamasso

Megamasso took some time during their summer tour to spend a day with us and reach out to their fans in Kanazawa.

Megamasso held their one-man live in Kanazawa AZ on the first of August in the middle of their 2010 Summer Tour Twilight Girl Meets Endless Summer. The following day, they promoted their new single Hanabira, on sale starting August 25th.

In the hot midsummer afternoon, when the heat of the sun was fiery enough to grill skins, the three members of Megamasso arrived at Hokkoku Newspaper Building. In their interview with the newspaper, they shared their thoughts about Hanabira, saying, “We composed it with a rock image in mind and took alternative music of the 90’s into Megamasso. As for the lyrics, we consulted the producer, mixed realistic words in and it turned out to be fantastic.” They also talked about their impression of the Kanazawa live, saying “it was wonderful becoming one with the audience.” Finally, when they were asked about their eagerness after one year since their major debut, they concluded the interview with powerful words: “We’ll keep running!”

After they finished recording the comments for Radio Kanazawa, the members moved to Hokuriku Broadcasting MRO. From the large lobby fitted with glass, one could see the courtyard where huge trees grow all the way across to Kenroku-en, a famous Japanese garden in Kanazawa. When they recorded a week's worth of comments for the program "Pucchi M", during which musicians’ PVs are broadcast, each member — Inzargi, Ryouhei and Gou — took charge of a comment for every day of the week. Ryouhei arranged the process with alacrity, talked a lot and created a pleasant friendly mood.

From there, the band moved on to FM Ishikawa station. After a short meeting with radio personality Mr. Hirayama, who was working with Megamasso for the second time, they waited in a dressing room. Gou and Inzargi, along with a make-up artist, played the "Othello" game on the iPad and competed to find out who would be the champion in the Megamasso team. The results for that day were that Gou, pleased with winning the first game, ended up losing the second game to Inzargi. In a relaxed mood, Ryouhei enjoyed the DS game "Tomodachi Collection." They autographed the station’s home page, went down to the lobby next to the open studio and shot a photograph for it as well.

The members then went into the glass-fitted open studio and the live broadcast of "Do it!" started. Speaking about a happy memory they had that summer, they mentioned watching a fireworks display very intently soon after they arrived in Kanazawa. The band also shared about the environmental changes that had taken place since they made their major debut. They described Hanabira as being “a mixture of strength and fragility” and said about the coupling song Moon that “while Oborozuki was written from the viewpoint of a man, this song was written from the viewpoint of a woman.”

Feeling the gaze of many fans upon them, thirty minutes of fluent chatting with Mr Hirayama was over in no time. With that, the members completed their schedule for the day and left the studio. Megamasso will continue on their second half of their summer tour and keep running for the final live in SHIBUYA-AX on September 5th.
