Janne Da Arc – ANOTHER STORY CLIPS

ANOTHER STORY CLIPS is Janne Da Arc’s third PV collection. It contains three clips that promoted the ANOTHER STORY album as well as TV commercials and a ten-minute movie called ANOTHER ANOTHER STORY, in which - seated in circle and wearing samurai clothes - the band members talk about the creation of the album and more. Furthermore, the DVD also features very short making-of clips, revealing the secrets of shooting PVs and scenes from making alternative versions of the clips.

In the beginning of the DVD, the same motif that was used on the album cover appears. It seems to presage some mysterious fairy story. However, the following clips don’t fulfill this promise; they are more funny than mystical, but it isn’t disappointing at all. The first of them are Shining Ray and Maria o tsumetao, which show the band playing. Shining Ray is kept in bright colours, and its pleasant atmosphere is created by a blue filter on the camera. Omnipresent water drops fly in the air, sprinkling on the drums or gliding over the keyboards. In turn, the more energetic Maria o tsumetao PV is dominated by green, which, coupled with broken rhythms and fast scene changes, make the viewer feel a bit anxious.

The last PV, Kasumi yuku sora se ni shite, is a real gem. It has a developed plot, and here and there, the scenes of the band playing are intertwined. The clip presents a tangled story in which the musicians seem to be trying to get rid of or hand over a metal suitcase with unidentified content to someone. Their failures are repaired by a special gadget that turn the time back. All of this is accompanied by joyful and lively music.

This DVD is an excellent supplement to the ANOTHER STORY album. It lasts a little over half an hour, but it’s really worth watching, especially because of the video for Kasumi yuku sora se ni shite - one session is enough for this clip to become your favourite, and you’ll want to watch it many times.
