Sadie Spring Tour 2009 MASTER OF ROMANCE

Sadie’s tour kicked off in Kyoto, and it took two months to go around 16 other prefectures. The final date of the tour was held in Tokyo on May 2. Even there, where there are many visual kei events around, tickets sold out. Furthermore, every place they had performed had also been sold out. From Kansai, where they started to perform, north to Sapporo, and back south to Hakata, the sold out shows continued.

From early on, the hall was crowded with young girls, all of who seemed to have on tour T-shirts and wristbands. They were all taking pictures of each other with their cellphone cameras. Everyone seemed excited and happy. Many of them were dressed up beautifully, and there were a few guys in the crowd. From what was happening, it was easy to see how much they were looking forward to the last day of the tour.

There wasn't huge tension before the show, but a quiet excitement slowly began to build. As the lights went off, the crowd shouted with joy and the sound of a bass could be heard. The fans ran up to the stage and their shouts echoed through the hall. The band was lit from behind, and their silhouettes were cast across the stage. Finally, when Mao appeared, the shouts and applause got wilder. The fans, with waving arms and clapping hands, waited for the start of the Sadie spring show.

At the same time that a sad and powerful voice was heard in the hall, a firecracker went off. The lights changed and under red and white flashing lights, the crowd shook their heads to the rhythm of Ice Romancer. Tsurugi put his finger in the air and seemed to stir the fans. Mizuki smiled because the fans were already all excited and pumped up. The performance got wilder as Mao sang the painful lyrics powerfully. Then, the band stopped as if it were a shadow-picture lantern show. The next song was VIRTUAL FAKEMAN, and drove the crowd wild just like Ice Romancer had. The lighting flashed from black and white as the show heated up quickly. Mizuki shook his head with Mao on the platform and shouted into Mao’s mic stand, "FAKEMAN! FAKEMAN!" The crowd shouted at the stage, clapping as the intensity grew. Everybody jumped like Mizuki. Perhaps because it was the last show, the unity of the band and audience was extraordinarily strong.

During Sexual affection, Mao shouted, "Come on! More!!!" Tsurugi was pumping his fists, and that drove the fans wild. During MAD-ROID, Tsurugi’s guitar sounded strong and wizardly. He showed his wide-ranging skills, and the sound ripped through the air. Kei was pounding on his drums. His performance was really impressive. Mao shouted "come"’ to the fans and held the microphone out for the crowd to sing a duet with them. Aki shouted out too. The sound of the song got harder, as if it were pierced by a machine-gun. The excitement continued. The song drove the crowd to the edge. From the start, the fans and the band members shook their bodies hard and pumped their fists in the air. The atmosphere was buzzing.

In the hall, the excitement continued, even between tunes. Nobody went quiet, and they kept calling out the band members' names over and over. The band responded by waving their hands. Crimson Tear was next. Mao had the fans sing the main parts of the song. Sometimes, he acted as if he had something horrible to bear, or he heard someone's or something's voice. The performance was really impressive and mysterious. He began to tighten his voice, as if he had shaken everything off to get hold of what he really wanted. The fans listened, captured by the painful purity of this song.

The twin lead guitars sounded heavy and led into Rock’n roll stinky people. The band yelled out, "Dance! Tokyo!" The crowd responded immediately and the atmosphere was buzzing again. Mao shouted, "Tokyo! Tokyo! Final AX, are you ready Tokyo?" The members turned around and moved back and forth across the stage, smiling at each other. They looked as if they were enjoying the show as much as the fans. Mizuki performed next to Kei’s drums. Aki held up his hands and looked into the distance to try to see the all fans in the hall. With the next song, Psychedelic Chemical Movie, the hall became so rowdy that it was hard to tell the difference between the fans' shouting and the band's playing. The members kept walking around to the side of the hall, jumping and shaking their whole bodies. The next song was Parasite Scene. Before this song started, the fans clapped their hands with their arms wide open. It was clear that the fans were more than ready to enjoy it. During In cave, the members moved quickly back and forth across the stage and worked up the audience.

Mao shouted "Come!" while standing at the middle of the stage and sang powerfully with his whole heart. The fans continued screaming between the tunes. Mao was bathed in light and began to sing quietly. It was quite a contrast from the excitement of the first half of the concert. Silent eve and Ageha no nakigara cooled the fans down a little. Mao performed the songs as if he were talking to the fans. A warm and gentle passion wrapped the hall. The fans were caught up in the songs; some of them were crying. The next song, Swallow Rain, started driving the show to its climax. During a holy terrors, Mao sang clearly and powerfully. The fans were headbanging hard, and Mizuki, Tsurugi and Aki shook their bodies and gave the best performance ever.

There was a clear change in the air during a holy terrors and Scarlet. Mao's sad and beautiful voice resonated through the hall. Suddenly, he shouted "follow me!" and Under the chaos kicked off. The excitement came back to the stage as Mizuki headbanged and Tsurugi pumped his fist in the air. The crowd couldn't stop applauding.

Shingan started with Mao’s clear shout. Headbanging and pumping their fists, the band and the fans jumped together. Kei kept playing the drums hard, and he really impressed the fans. Breaking the enemy started with shouts and applause. While Mao moved back and forth across the stage, Mizuki stamped his foot on the platform to keep the rhythm, and the show was on again. Mizuki called out, "Go! Go! Jump" to the fans who clapped their hands continuously. The crowd had their hand over their heads and was moving them back and forth. Then, CHILDREN OF DESPAIR started. The shouts of the crowd felt like it came from the bowels of the Earth, roaring from ground. Finally, the last song began with a shout of "last!" from one of the members. While Grieving the dead soul was played, smoke blasted from the stage. The members came out to the front of the stage. The fans standing there responded by shouting, headbanging and waving their arms even more. They kept screaming and the atmosphere was so pumped up by the flood of their energy.

"TOKYO! Do you hear it? Are you alive?" screamed Mizuki, Tsurugi, Aki and Mao. Mao took off his shirt and sang. After the song, they answered the fans' applause by waving their hands. The members left the stage, but the shouting never stopped, even when the encore didn't start for about five minutes or more. Everyone in the crowd waited for Sadie to appear again. Finally, the members came up onstage again. It seemed as if the fans trembled with each word as Mao said, "Hello, Tokyo. I haven’t seen you for long time. Nice to meet you AX. It is so hard to believe that the tour, which started on March 7th, will end today." The entire hall responded with warm applause.

"Sadie was formed, and four years have passed, taking us from Osaka to AX. To be honest, I was so scared before the show that actually I couldn’t sleep so much. That is my embarrassing story. But when I saw you guys today, I could calm down. I feel so happy that I can spend the time here today, AX. Thank you so much! " Mao spoke with an Osakan accent, and it really transmitted his heartfelt thanks. "Can you go more? Can you go? Come with us! "Mao suddenly shouted, and then the encore started.

Mizuki and Aki played standing back to back. They walked around the stage toward Kei and Tsurugi and back. They broke into Meisai and played away. The shout of "show me!" from Mao filled the hall, and the band went into New age slicer. The members flung their arms up and jumped around. Mizuki, Aki and Tsurugi kept playing as they surrounded Mao on the platform. It was obvious that everyone in the band was enjoying this part of the show. Next, Psycho culture began. As Mao shouted "AX...becoming one...it is a promise," all the fans in the hall got wilder than ever. The encore was more exciting than ever. Not surprisingly, all the fans were headbanging seriously and screaming. It was a really fantastic moment.

Mousouhigyakuseiheki was next. Mao held his microphone out to the fans and the fans responded by waving their hands back and forth. The fans started to dance crazily while shaking the silver tape which had been shot out to mark the finale. During Kagerou, the band got wild and violent and warmed up the show. The band and the fans became one, but the performance seemed to be over way too quick. A bottle and a pick were thrown to the fans. Kei jumped down from the stage into the crowd. Mao shouted, "AX succeeded safely. Thank you! Good bye!" The crowd returned shouts of their own and waved the peace sign at the band. "I hope I can see you again. Thank you," Mao said as the members left the stage, occasionally waving to the fans. The fans responded by shaking and throwing the silver tape. Sadie made them rage by dancing with their whole bodies. Shouts from the audience still filled the venue and didn't seem to stop.

It is clear that not only their music but also the band members of Sadie themselves were accepted by the fans. They evoke sympathy, and that is why the fans looked forward to their show. It is not possible to take one's eyes off of Sadie when they perform.
