Backstage with Billy for their October 19 live in Osaka's soma, the band proves they're just as cool off-stage as they are onstage.
Upon entering soma, the members of Billy had just finished rehearsal and were waiting for hair and make-up. Despite the pressure of their first one-man live tour, Billy were surprisingly relaxed, as if they had already had done dozens of one-man tours. They spent their time watching the video images of their one-man live in Shibuya O-WEST (taken backstage and which would be shown to the fans before before their Osaka live that day) or applying black nail polish.
BAKU had been relaxing in a seat at their goods table; but upon receiving a gift, he brightened up more and expressed his happiness and gratitude with a broad smile. Meanwhile, a shirtless Tsubuku strolled about while playing his bass, almost as though he was showing off. When the cameras were turned to Takuma, he cheerfully answered the requests for a pose, flashing a refreshing smile. Hiroshi, who had just finished his hair and make-up, preoccupied himself with warming up for the live in the dressing room, a cigarette dangling nonchalantly from his mouth. Mine opened a discussion about music while waiting for the live to start.
When the live started, it was about twenty minutes behind schedule. Despite the late start, both the band and the audience were just as enthusiastic and energetic; Billy gave it their all and delivered. By the end of the set, the venue had become very hot and everyone was drenched in sweat.
When the members came back to the dressing room after finishing their live - but who would have known that so many accidents would happen on the stage? Takuma split his pants like he had at the one-man live in Shibuya O-WEST, and he borrowed the another pair of black pants that Mine had on hand to quickly resolve the issue. But that wasn't the end of it: Mine managed to lose one of his color contact lenses! He ended up borrowing BAKU's yellow contact lenses, so one of his eyes was yellow during their encore. Back on stage,Tsubuku appeared to be winking to members of the audience, but he actually had an eyelash in his eye and was trying to get it out.
Despite some wardrobe hiccups and a wayward eyelash in Tsubuku's case, Billy was able to let these things slide off of them and even laugh about it.
Following the show, the members were understandably a little bit burnt out - but as soon as the camera was back on them, they found a little bit more energy to strike poses and just be themselves. The Billy fans see on stage is cool, passionate, and, from what was witnessed backstage (and onstage), unflappable; off-stage, they prove that they are just as cool and genuine in person!
