HER NAME IN BLOOD

Five piece metal group from Tokyo HER NAME IN BLOOD are fully charged with ferocity as they brutally hammer our ears with five tracks, two brand new and three re-recorded, on their release Evolution From Apes.

LAST DAY is first on the cards and it is no mean feat as we thrown straight into a cacophony of pounding beats, tremulous riffs and savage vocals that switch brilliantly, giving us just the right amount of melody and gruff growls. LAST DAY certainly ticks all the right boxes as the guitars (Daiki and TJ) are unyielding with powerful drama, the drums (Umebo) and bass (Makoto) unrelenting with the rhythm until a short break mid-song gives way to chants of “Go Insane!” The tempo picks up again to end this track on a high and prepare us for the equally merciless REVOLVER.

REVOLVER is darker and more powerful in tone with alternating rhythms and melodic guitar solos, and vocalist Ikepy brings a rough edge to the lyrics with deep metalcore screams that are bound to get fans screaming along. REVOLVER will most certainly invoke the inner rocker in every fan to raise their fists, scream those lyrics, and appreciate this song all over again in all its fresh glory.

DOWN, the second new track on the EP, brings back some of the melody to the mix. The chorus of this track is a beautifully melancholic contrast to the heavy metal tone of the rest of the vocal work and instrumentation. The performance of this track is dramatic with crashing drums, the lead guitar flaunting another impressive solo that will surely turn heads when performed live.

GASOLINES and HALO are the final two tracks on the EP, both re-recordings, and both of these tracks take us right back in with that fast paced, thunderous, heavy metal prowess that is just as impressive second time around. They are arguably perfect metal quality, which would explain a reason why they are gaining more recognition over here, and as far as HALO is concerned… there are probably going to be some serious wall-of-death moments to watch out for if this is another to get on their future set lists!

HER NAME IN BLOOD might not have released their next full length album yet but this EP is one that will keep their fans firmly entertained in the meantime. Evolution From Apes is an intense release that has not only given us new material to sink our teeth into but has given seasoned fans a chance to reminisce some old favourites and newer fans a chance to sample some of the brilliant older material. Perhaps a precursor of sorts to pave the way for the release of the band's brand new album BAKEMONO, which will be due for release on the 14th of September this year, promising a real devilish treat for the ears.
