Bokurano

Much like the short-lived bands in the visual world, Bokurano was just another band that popped up out of nowhere and breezed by until a sudden disbandment a few years later.

Formed in 2010, Bokurano’s beginnings were rather meek. With vocalist SAIRA, guitarist Shirayuki, bassist SIN, and drummer Kurumu as the original line-up, the group held its first live at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU on August 2nd, 2010. For much of 2010, Bokurano played at sponsored lives with other visual kei indie bands.

All was well until drummer Kurumu decided to leaveBokurano sometime in May 2011. Rumors have it that his decision to leave was based on disagreements he and the other members had, as well as the potential for Bokurano to disband at the time. Later that year in October, Shirayuki also left the group after only being in the group for a year. No reason was given for his decision to leave. However, no more than a month later, Bokurano found a new drummer, Yuryi, as well as a new guitarist, Miru.

In 2012, things started to work out for Bokurano. The group focused on live activities rather than working to release a first single. The group packed their schedule, playing with a number of indie visual kei group. Halfway through the year, Bokurano joined an indie label, S’CUBE, and was finally able to release its first and only maxi single, Woooooper!Loooooper! at the beginning of August 2012, but with such a quirky, odd title—and the amount of image changes the members had—fans might have expected more releases from the group. Sadly, after the rush of excitement following the release of Woooooper!Loooooper!, there was a long hiatus.

For the remainder of the 2012, Bokurano played at some lives but still didn’t release anything. Meanwhile, ex-guitarist Shirayuki had recently joined the Sherry, a new rookie band signed to Hana Shounen Baddies’ own label, Badeggbox. While Shirayuki seemed to have garnered more exposure and some success, his previous band had stagnated. No more than six months later—and almost out of nowhere—the dreaded news came: disbandment.

Bokurano played its last live at Birth SHINJUKU on March 26, 2013. The members thanked their fans for supporting them but gave no concrete reason for disbanding. As with similar visual kei bands that have unfortunately disbanded, they disappear from the scene for a while until they pop up again in a new band, masked by a new name and a new identity.
