HER NAME IN BLOOD

HER NAME IN BLOOD is a metalcore band based in Tokyo. Despite the harshness of their music, the members don’t take themselves too seriously and aren’t above covering songs by pop artists such as Lady Gaga and Maroon 5 for fun.

While the members began playing together in 2003, the band did not take on the name HER NAME IN BLOOD until 2007. Under this new name, which was taken from a song by Strung Out, they released both their first demo and a split EP with Before My Life Fails in 2008. That November, they also had the opportunity to participate in the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour in Japan.

The next year saw the band continue to tour and record, with one of the highlights being a performance at the Japanese hardcore festival Pump Us The Volume.

Sadly, guitarist Shogo Sakurai left the band on August 30, 2009. He later formed a new band called Aphelion, and he and the other members have remained friends. In February 2010, the band announced they had recruited a new guitarist named TJ.

The year 2010 was a big one for HER NAME IN BLOOD as they released both their first EP CONFUSION and their first full-length album DECADENCE on Keep And Walk Records.

In 2012, the band contributed to the Japanese edition of an omnibus album series called PUNK GOES POP, covering Lady Gaga’s hit Poker Face. That year also saw them support fellow hardcore band CROSSFAITH on their Into the Zion tour, performing shows in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

The next year brought HER NAME IN BLOOD’s second EP THE BEAST, and a tour in support of it. They also took part in the Sumerian Tour 2013, playing shows alongside American acts Upon A Burning Body and Born of Osiris, as well as Japan’s CRYSTAL LAKE.

The band ended the year with a short China tour, which stretched into January 2014, and they also announced dates in Taiwan for February.

An ambitious band with a great sense of humour, be sure to keep your eye on HER NAME IN BLOOD in the future.
