Since before he could remember, Kiryu felt sure he would become a vocalist. At the age of 14, he taught himself how to play the guitar. He met a group of people that inspired him to make music, and from there he taught himself how to write music and play different types of instruments: guitar, bass, piano and drums are just some of the few. He also had an interest in music of various styles, from hard rock to gospel to R&B. All of these styles influenced him as he started down the path of a musician.

In 1998, he and his band released a CD with Columbia Music Entertainment and quickly gained popularity. He was asked to do a lot of promotion via television, magazine and radio, but after a short while, his band dissolved. He then began to control his musical activities on his own, in his own way.

He restarted his musical activities as the front man and songwriter of the bands R-ONE, RITA and other rock bands, and his musical talents began to develop even more. His music became more popular and started to be heard outside of Japan.

More recently, Kiryu has begun his solo career. In 2009, Kiryu released his first solo mini-album, Hydra, and made his US debut at the Pacific Media Expo (PMX) in California. He returned to the US in 2010 to perform at Japonawa in Tijuana, Mexico, and he also performed at a live in Anaheim, California.

With his voice, Kiryu shows his passionate soul and is taking the music industry by storm with his fresh new sound.
