Much like the legendary ghost, boogieman's beginnings were shrouded by mystery. Their first advertisements were nothing but a logo splashed across black fliers and their line up remained hidden, even during the debut of their activities. At their first show, on December 31, 2007 at Shibuya C.C. Lemon Hall, the band remained concealed behind a curtain.

While boogieman was to be a guest performer at Clash Against Commercialism, an American event scheduled for April 2008, the event was cancelled last minute and boogieman did not announce any further activities. The band did not resurface again until May 5th, five months after their last performance, as part of the lineup for the studs's tour final. When boogieman's members were finally revealed, fans were delighted to see familiar faces, with Junno (ex-beaU) on vocals, Yuana (ex-kagerou) and Akira (ex-baroque) on guitar, Bansaku (ex-baroque) on bass and Yuuchiro (ex-metronome) on drums.

boogieman's live activities started off slow in the spring, appearing at Like an Edison events and ruvie's final show but by summer, they were moving at a much quicker pace, performing at many Undercode and Speed disk events through the remainder of the year. They held their first nationwide tour in November, which consisted of nine dates.

The band kicked off 2009 with the Beautiful:madnesS vol.2 -Beautiful worLd- live on January 7th at Shibuya O-East and within the next two weeks performed with fellow indies bands 176BIZ and girugamesh. On January 21st, boogieman released their first mini album, libido. In celebration, the band hosted three events, two of which sold out almost immediately.

Through the spring the band began to tour, joining the Absolute Domain tour. In May, the band appeared at two of Like An Edison's Seed of Anomie events as well as Sugar's one-man tour on the 10th. On June 24, they released their first single, Gashuu. Carrying on performances through the remainder of the year, boogieman released two final singles, Gashuu and HIDDEN.

The year 2010 started with business as usual for boogieman, and between their live schedule, the band released both their new single, Kijou no kuuron, and their first self-titled album. However, amidst their preparation for the summer tour, vocalist Junno received news from the doctor that continuing to sing would be detrimental to his health. As a result, boogieman was left vocal-less, and halted all further live activity.

The remainder of 2010 has been fairly quiet for boogieman until the October announcement that not only was the band continuing activities, but they had found a new vocalist who would be unveiled during their new year's eve performance. Now, as the new year draws close, fans eagerly await who will be boogieman's new leading man, and what lies in the future for this talented quartet.
