IRUMA RIOKA started to play piano at a very early age and by was six began composing her own music. After graduating from the conservatory she moved to Tokyo with hopes of pursuing her solo career. The main part of her melodies in her mixed style of electropop and classical is made with the help of the computer and a bit of piano play. The result of such a mix can easily compete with many anime soundtracks. During her lives IRUMA amuses the fans with her wonderful Gothic Lolita costumes.

While composing her own melodies, IRUMA is inspired by the works of not only Bjork and Shiina Ringo but also European sounds like church bells, light melodies of music boxes and the classical masterpieces of the greatest composers.

The first album named Iruma was released in March of 2008, right after she started to work with NEMU as her guitarist. In June of the same year, IRUMA had her first tour in Kyushu where she gained some attention from local newspapers and magazines. The next month, in July, her PV Vanilla was nominated for best among indie artists. It resulted as one of the six best PVs out of 300, and from that time on, even the foreign mass media began to recognize IRUMA's works. In October 2008 two mini-albums, Secret Garden and Secret Garden -Dream-, were released. While the career of this artist is just at its beginning, apart from recording and playing lives she does some additional work, such as demonstrating and selling synthesizers as well as playing piano in a bar.

In the beginning of 2009, IRUMA RIOKA had her tour in Kyushu followed by her first tour in Russia, where she performed twice, in St. Petersburg on February 14 and in Moscow the next day. For sure, the young and talented artist IRUMA RIOKA has a bright future and we will definitely keep following her career.
