Tommy heavenly6 was created on May 26, 2003 during the television show "SPACE SHOWER TV ×Tommy february6 SPECIAL NIGHT," during a live performance of Tommy february6 in which she removed her glasses. Tomoko has since explained that the official birth of Tommy heavenly6 occurred when Tommy february6 fell asleep and had a dream in which she did whatever she pleased with no repercussions. When she awoke, Tommy heavenly6 was standing before her. This birth scene is acted out in the music video for Tommy Heavenly6's first single, Wait Till I Can Dream, which was released in July 2003.

The true reasoning for the creation of Tommy heavenly6 came from the disappointment Tomoko felt towards Tommy february6's character, and she said that the persona she created began to deviate heavily from her original design, thus heavenly was created. Despite the fact that she's much darker and more dangerous in behavior and appearance, she is still much more of a pure person than Tommy february6 ended up being.

Tomoko has explained that at first, Tommy february6 was unaware of the existence of Tommy heavenly6. However, when Tommy heavenly6 decided she wanted to be friends with Tommy february6, she confronted february6 and ended up accidentally angering her. From that point on, the two knew of each other's existence and quarreled, which can be seen in the Tommy heavenly6 music video, Lollipop Candy BAD Girl, in which both personas appear and fight. However, by the release of I LOVE XMAS in 2006, the relationship between the two egos deepened and they pleasantly got along together, appearing with Santa in the music video. Tomoko said in an interview that she had thought of making the two girls twins, but was undecided.

From her first release, in 2003, until mid 2004, things were quiet for Tommy heavenly6 as Tomoko was focusing on Tommy february6 as well as production with other jpop artists. She released one single in May, but disappeared again from the music scene until summer 2005 when a new single and her first self-titled album hit store shelves. It was another year of silence before Tommy heavenly6 reemerged like a whirlwind, producing four singles, each with two versions, by the end of 2006.

In the beginning of 2007, she released her second full album, Heavy Starry Heavenly, and a new single within a month of each other. 2008 brought just one release, a single called PAPERMOON in December.

February 2009 was a busy month for Tommy heavenly6, with her new song Unlimited Sky appearing on the anime "Gundam 00." She also launched her first album in two years, Gothic Melting Ice cream's Darkness Nightmare, which was released on February 25 in three versions, as well as online with Sony Music.

On March 28, Tommy heavenly6 appeared on Music Farm with her counterpart and other popular J-Pop acts. Just two days later she announced another new album, I KILL MY HEART, which is set to hit stores on April 29.
