te' was formed in Tokyo in January 2004 by guitarist Kono. The other members - hiro (guitar), masa (bass) and tachibana (drummer) - quickly gelled, and the band began musical activities soon after. The band seemed to have an instant rapport, because soon after their formation they were playing live shows to enthusiastic audiences that snapped up their demo CD, causing it to sell out almost instantly. The band's first CD release, a maxi-single, went on sale eight months later in September on the indies label Zankyo. The band was encouraged and promoted by the Tower Records store in Tokyo, which helped bring in many more fans. At this time, te' began to receive critical success, and almost exactly a year after their first release came their first album, Naraba, Imi kara Kaiho Sareta Hibiki wa Oto no Sekai no Shinen wo Kataru. Directly after the album, the band took part in a very successful period of touring throughout Japan.

In March 2006, te' was invited to play at the very first and now yearly "independence D" festival in Tokyo in front of 10,000 people. At the same time, the band re-released their first album in the US (re-mastered with additional tracks) and performed a long promotional tour, gathering more fans along the way. Another single release, Kotoba wo Mochiite Kanaderu Mono wa Saino ni Arazu, Tada no Kioku ni Suginu, appeared in the shops during June. It seemed te' had the knack for being popular both at home in their native Japan as well as keeping interest from abroad as in November, the band was invited to play with the famous UK based instrumental rock band 65daysofstatic.

2007 brought forth the release of the band's second full album, Sore wa, Nari Hibiku Sekai kara Genjitsuteki na Oto wo Utao to Suru Shiko, and their first live DVD release, which was supported by a one man tour of major Japanese cities. There was hardly a break before the band headed off to Taiwan to play at the 2007 MegaPort Festival.

By the beginning of 2008, the band was going full speed and starred in a special showcase event at LIQUIDROOM along with VOLA & THE ORIENTAL MACHINE, ART-SCHOOL and OCEANLANE. The tickets for the event were completely sold out in advance. More festival appearances followed, including another trip to Taiwan to the famous FORMOZ music event and a set at the RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL in Ezo, Japan. In October, their third full album Mashite, Kokoro to Gokan ga Icchi Surunara Subete Saijou no "Ongaku" ni Henzuru went on sale, supported by a one-man live at the Shibuya CLUB QUATRO livehouse. The year closes with the band building on their powerful live performance reputation and regular releases, to the delight of their many fans all over the world.
