Corrupted

It is pretty hard to draw up a biography of Corrupted, as little information are disclosed and as its members have always turned down offers to make interviews. The band also refuses to be photographed, be it by journalists or by artists for promotional sessions. Their only existing pictures are those taken by fans during their shows. Despite this, it is still possible to use the albums and concerts dates to have an outline of the band's history.

Corrupted was formed in Osaka in 1994 and released its first EP Anciano in 1995 with the independent label Japan Overseas. The mini-album, very dark and heavy, had a lot of success and was reedited three times. That same year the band's members met with the Americans of Grief and recorded a split album distributed by HG Fact, the label that would release most of their later works. The EP El Dios Queja and Nadie were also released in stride.

In 1996 they took part in the compilations Raggle Taggle in Japan, and Una De Gato Cuerno De Vaca and Painkiller vol. 1 in the United States, for which they recorded several songs.

After another split with the grindcore American band Black Army Jacket in 1997, Corrupted released its first album Paso Inferior, made up of one track with the same name. They did several split albums and also had several recording sessions that same year with Enemy Soil and Noothgrush.

In 1999 the band released another EP, Dios Injusto, which would be edited twice that same year. After taking part in another compilation for the United States, Reality Part #3, and two other splits with Scarver's Calling and then Phobia, Corrupted released its second album Llenandose de Gusanos, made up of two CDs, each one only having one track. The band then showed another facet of its music, a style much more ambient and full of subtlety. The second track of the album (which lasted 73 minutes) was fully instrumental and devoid of aggressiveness. The year 1999 ended for the band with the recording of a new song for a compilation to support the homeless, with the French label, Bad Card records.

The year 2000 was ripe with split albums, recorded with bands like Machetazo, Meat Slave, and Sloth. It's also during that period that Corrupted would play for the first time in Europe before returning to Japan, most of the time with other doom, grindcore or hardcore bands.

Corrupted’s first single, La Victima Es Tu Mismo, was released under the Czech label View Beyond in 2001. Then the band took part in another American compilation, Twin Threat To Your Sanity, and other split albums with Discordance Axisand 324, or Cripple Bastards, and Infaust, in 2002. That same year, Paso Inferior was reedited as a LP under the German label Insolito.

In 2004 was released the third album of the band, Se Hace Por Los Suenos Asesinos, edited in LP and CD, which, while not devoid of a certain kind of violence, also benefited from the addition of folk instruments.

One year later, El Mundo Frio, the band’s fourth album, was released. The CD was yet again made up of only one track, a much contrasted one alternating between long introspective passages and much more violent ones. This time a harp was also used.

In 2007 two new singles, Vasana and An Island Insane were released. Nadie and Paso Inferior were also reedited one year later, under the Spanish label Throne records for the first EP. It was also in 2008 that the band's members played for the first time in France, on the 17th of October, along with the undertaker photographer and video director Kiyotaka Tsurisaki, for whom they had made the soundtrack of the reportage Junk Films.
