Finnish hardcore punk was short-lived, but its unique era was in the beginning of the 80's, when acts such as Terveet Kädet or Riistetyt started their careers. This style has since been admired overseas, to such an extent by some that they have taken it a step further and started using Finnish in their lyrics - the Japanese examples would include Laukaus, Poikkeus and CONCLUDE, the latter having even toured in Finland.

The beginning of Laukaus was in autumn 2001, when the band recorded their first demo tape and started performing with their four member line-up, including vocalist Uutiset aka uuti, guitarist hani, bassist Kuroda purjo and drummer 02.

Besides live gigs, the group also took part in several punk compilations and other collaborations, leaving their own list of releases rather short. In place of quantity there was quality. The first e.p. Mikä on tuolla? received positive attention, but the best feedback came with the clearly more varied e.p. Ollaan punk nuorisoo, which was also published in Europe in 2004. This release, which also included covers from both Riistetyt and the Stalin, was praised as one of the most definite modern pieces in that specific era of hardcore.

In the November of 2004 the band played in the PUNK AS A FUCK SHOW 2004 event, which was later released on DVD. They also played several times with the American hardcore group The Casualties, who Laukaus also supported on their Punx Unite Japan Tour in the year 2006.

Soon after this tour however, in October 2006, the group quit their career. uuti and 02 continued their musical interest by forming another band within the same month. N.O.W. (Network of Wonder) did have a similar sound to Laukaus in a way, though this time the punk musicians had chosen a more Japanese style. N.O.W. released their first demo release, No dub demo, early in 2007.
