Formed in 2004, Kokusyoku Sumire is comprised of two lovely ladies, Yuka, who handles vocals, accordion and piano, and Sachi on violin and piano, dressed in gothic lolita fashion.

Their first CD, Zenmai Shoujo Hako Ningyou, was released in September 2004 and revealed the beginning of an extremely rich universe, which sailed between opera and baroque music combined with an atmosphere of cabaret, a dark, decadent, world from the imaginations of these two women. More than a year elapsed before their first full length album, Anderu meruhen koushinkyoku, was released on the January 25, 2006.

During this time, the band has had the opportunity to pose for magazines like Gothic Lolita Bible and for brands like Angelic Pretty.

On the August 1, 2007 they released Tenkirin Kumikyoku, their second full length album. While losing some of the darkness from their previous releases, they've gained a quality and richness that surpasses their earlier sound. While this fairly new visual kei band may be an acquired sound for some, there are many who appreciate their music, both for its power and originality.

Kokusyoku Sumire toured France at the end of November 2007.
