Before changing their name, BAAL was known as CHRONOTRIGGER. They released a self-titled demo tape in 2003 that featured three songs. CHRONOTRIGGER also had many live shows under their belt before BAAL was ever formed.

In June 2005, the three band members from CHRONOTRIGGER - U-tarou, MIKITO, and Chihiro - decided to change the name to represent the evolution that the band had gone through, and they named the band BAAL. Late that year in September, they performed at JUNK CHILDREN#1, headlined by BAAL and organized by BRAIN SCAN LABORATORY, a private label which BAAL and Despair use to organize and play events under. At the same time, BAAL released their debut single Bloody_Logic_Communication; a limited edition collector's single of Wreckage, was also released at this event. In January 2006, BAAL performed at JUNK BAPTIZM#1, and a club edition of Junk Children and a remix of Bloody_Logic_Communication was distributed to all visitors free of charge.

In May of the same year, BAAL performed at Tokyo Dark Castle, an event that specializes in gothic and industrial music and is held every month. In August, BAAL performed at JUNK BAPTIZM#2, which was held in Tokyo. The event was organized by BRAIN SCAN LABORATORY, and BAAL's special remix of on the surface was distributed free to concertgoers.

BAAL performed as the closing act at a punk clothing fashion show in Tokyo's Laforet for Sexy Dynamite London in September 2006. They finished 2006 with the release of their long awaited first mini-album, which contains six songs. TERRITORY OF B.A.A.L was released in November, and with it the band also went on their first European tour that spanned five shows in Germany and the Netherlands.

By 2007, BAAL announced their merchandise brand BLACKGUARD HERO that deals with production and sales of T-shirts, stickers, and posters, in March. BAAL's second European tour, which took place in Germany, consisted of three shows that were carried out in March.

BAAL released their second mini-album in June 2008. RELIGION 616 consisted of five songs. Later that month, BAAL took part in the Cyber Punk Baroque Ball: Angelspit Vs BAAL for four shows throughout Australia with an electro-industrial band from Sydney: Angelspit.

2009 has come with a busy schedule for BAAL. They performed twice at Tokyo Dark Castle at Shinjuku MARZ. BAAL will be organizing their own event KING OF EVIL 13 chapter 1 Area 666 on July 11 at Shinjuku MOTION.
