The legend says that the five artists and YM-Z, their actual manager and producer, had met each other in 2003 at the Flying Books, a library in Japan, and then decided to make music together in band which they called SUIKA, inspired by the fact they were eating a watermelon when deciding.

In July 2004, they released their first album, Harvest for the stripes, of which some tracks reached the top of the “college charts”. In the same year, they participated in the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL and have been named in some music magazines, which helped them to become more known.

In April 2005, they appeared on MTV Japan in the “World Chart Express” emission and in July, they released their second album Ripe Stripes and then Coinside ! in December. Parallel to that, they organize concerts called “Suika yawa” (“Suika’s Night stories”), in which different artists have been invited. By 2006, the label Soundlicious released the French edition for Harvest for the stripes.

During 2007 and 2008, the band performed during several events, even sending two members, ATOM and Takatsuki overseas to France. During this same time they released two albums, including Kakoii.

While SUIKA did not release anything during 2009, fans were still entertained by seeing them live. In November 2008, the band released their fifth album, Suika yawa, and they wrapped up the 2010 year with several performances, including an upcoming event on December 26 at Shibuya 7th Floor.

With 2011 right around the corner, SUIKA is sure to be preparing new things in the upcoming year. Fans should keep an eye on this talented group.
