ROCK'N'ROLL GYPSIES

ROCK'N'ROLL GYPSIES

After an amazing past with his previous band The Rooster(z), Hiroyuki Hanada became one of the most popular underground solo guitarists during the 90’s. His solo career was highly inspiration to many other musicians and his status was almost legendary within the underground scene. In 1995, he released his 5th solo album with his old band mates Jyunji Ikehata and Tomio Inoue. The album was mysteriously entitled Rock'N'Roll Gypsies

In 2002, the album Who The Fuck Is The Rooster was released and the CD featured a selection of The Rooster(z) most popular songs. A new version was later recorded by the former members, but under the name of the Rock'N'Roll Gypsies

The same year, the band held a surprise secret concert after the Fuji Rock Festival. This event unleashed a real earthquake of publicity among the rock magazines. It was like a wake up call for media and fans alike.

In 2003, 20 years later after the end of The Rooster(z), the four legendary members who each had carried on in the mean time with their own solo careers finally reformed and played again together as the Rock'N'Roll Gypsies.

The band released an album entitled Rock'N'roll Gypsies the sound of the release was typical high quality rock (in the most traditional and noble way). The album had the old school style which could not be imitated and probably was only possible because of the experience of the band members.

Surpisingly, the release was not followed up by a huge tour or heavy promotion. The band only held a small number of gigs to support the release. With a little thought, it is easy to understand why they took this approach. The real aim of the Rock'N'Roll Gypsies was to revive The Rooster(z) for the ultimate tour. For this, they asked Shinya Ohe to return to the band line up. For further information about this, please check The Rooster(z) biography.

Finally, Hiroyuki Hanada returned in 2005 with the Rock'N'roll Gypsies during the MAZRI festival. However, Tomio Inoue was missing from the line up. The remaining members decided none the less to release a new album that same year. The album as always still providing an unique and high quality sound, drawing from their roots.

Since The Rooster(z) will never sing again, the band started a serious promotion for their new album and full Japan tour throughout 2005 and 2006. The band also participated in the famous Rising Sun Rock and Fuji Rock Festival in 2006 and look to continue into the future.
