Rame, formerly from Radifia, started Vidoll in 2002 with ex-Luinspear member Jui on vocals, Yukine and Ayano on guitar, and Tero on drums. They performed for the first time in May 2002 at the Yokohama Arena Soundhall as part of a multi-band event. Shortly afterward in July, they released their first two maxi-singles, face↑pisaroto and face↓mayura, both of which quickly sold out. The following months saw the band featured on several Matina label compilation CDs, as well as the release of more singles.

Later, Kisaki, then owner of the now-defunct Matina, founded a label called UNDER CODE PRODUCTION. Vidoll was one of the few bands that moved with him to the new label. In March 2003, their first releases on the new label hit stores, with another slew of singles and a mini-album to follow. At the end of May, Vidoll released their first DVD which contained three PVs and one live performance. Then, on June 26th, they held their first one-man concert at Meguro Rock May Kan. August marked Ayano's exit from the band, citing musical differences, and in December, a live recording of their first one-man show was released. Hide, formerly from the band Vanilla, took Ayano's place.

Taking its first steps toward an international career, Vidoll released a best-of album on the French label Mabell, introducing themselves to an European audience. Their first album, Mukashi futokoro KASHI Ningyou shuu + omake, a re-release of two earlier mini-albums with bonus material, was released on June 8th, 2005. It was limited to 10,000 copies and completely sold out. Their happiness that year was short-lived, however, as Jui announced during a live on April 26th that Hide and Yukine would be leaving the band at the end of June, following one last fan club-only tour named [Toumeihanzai]. However, shortly after, Shun and Giru joined as the two new guitarists of Vidoll.

In 2006, Kisaki announced that Vidoll, along with two other UNDER CODE PRODUCTION bands, would be leaving to join another label. No other information was known as Vidoll prepared for their next album, V.I.D ~Very Important Doll~, released on November 22nd.

Following their "graduation" from UNDER CODE PRODUCTION, which took place on February 14th, 2007, the band continued to go strong. The released a best-of double album titled Proposal ~Sotsugyou Kokuhaku~ on the 28th, along with a PV collection DVD, Flashback, and V.I.D set for Lastlovers, a live DVD containing footage of their December 29th, 2006 show.

In May, they took part in the hugely successful J-Rock Revolution Festival in Los Angeles, California alongside Alice Nine, MIYAVI, Merry, and others. June and July saw the releases of their INNOCENT TEENS and Cloud singles, which were their first singles as part of Sword Records, a sub-label of Universal. Also in June, the band embarked on their Vidoll TOUR '07 ~Meld Park~, which ended on July 23rd at LIQUIDROOM ebisu. The latter part of 2007 saw Vidoll releasing another full-length album, Bastard, and going on a winter tour before performing at Over the edge '07 with ayabie, girugamesh, heidi., former label mates 12012 and many others.

Vidoll started off 2008 with an appearance at the January 19th event stylish wave ILLUSION'08 Vol.1, during which they shared the stage with Kra, ayabie, Jinkaku Radio and Wizard. In March, following the release of the band's ~The game of buster~ live DVD, Jui and Rame made their way to the USA as guests at MegaCon in Orlando, Florida. They kicked off their VIDOLL TOUR '08 ~Yes, I'm a bastard~ tour on April 14th in Tokyo at Harajuku Astro hall and ended it on May 10th in Tokyo at Akasaka BLITZ. July saw the release of Vidoll's next single, Blue Star, along with a second pressing of their Proposal ~sotsugyou kokuhaku~ best-of album.

Later in the year, Vidoll performed at Treasurebox @ Shibuya Extra [NACK5 20th] * [Heaven's Rock 15th] at Shibuya O-WEST, alongside D'espairsRay. With the year coming to a close, the band band hosted a fan club event, Harajuku maimu, on December 9th, just a day before the release of their Maimu single and RELIEVE YOUR "BLUE SCAR" 2008.8.21 SHIBUYA-AX DVD.

The following two years saw many new releases, including their first major single, Puzzle Ring, as well as their first European and American albums. Unfortunately, the band slowly drifted apart musically during this time, each member interested in exploring a different path than the others. Eventually, they came to realize that it would be best if everyone pursued their own interests. Therefore, in January of 2011, Vidoll announced their disbandment. Their final concert, THE LAST LIVE, took place on May 7th, 2011, at Shinkiba STUDIO COAST.

With a successful career in the indies scene and a strong run on a major label cementing their status as a solid rock outfit, Vidoll will always be fondly remembered. While devoted fans might feel a void in their hearts, they can rejoice in the fact that each member has stated the intention to continue playing music. Vocalist Jui has already released his first solo album, and it is only a matter of time before the others spread their wings as well.
