BALLAD

lynch.

In a dimly lit room with bare concrete walls, old carpets lie on a floor covered with wires. Musical equipment, instruments and amplifiers are everywhere. Five black-clad men sit there facing each other, ready to start playing.

This is how the cover for the newest lynch. single looks like. Titled as BALLAD, it was released in Japan and Europe simultaneously , thanks to OKAMI Records. The title is misleading: the included songs have nothing to do with ballads; rather, they convey the spirit of the band and all the characteristics of their music perfectly.

The title track starts with gentle vocals accompanied by a piano. Someone could assume that the song would indeed be a ballad, but soon it speeds up a bit and becomes a faster and more compelling track. Furthermore, stress falls on Hazuki, who is able to convey emotions perfectly through his voice. Sadness and melancholy can be heard, and maybe this is the reason why the song is titled as BALLAD, since this genre often incorporates such feelings.

The second song, CRYSTALIZE, is more vibrant. Here, the melody is emphasized and complemented with stronger guitar riffs and a pounding, steady rhythm. If you’re a fan of an illusion, you may like this B-side—simply put, it is a good piece of lynch.’s work.

This single is quite a typical representation of lynch.’s work, but thanks to that, fans can be sure that they won’t feel like being let down. In the two given songs, fans can find every characteristic of the band’s style that they love. Both tracks show that there’s harmony and understanding between members of the band, which reflects in their music.
