The music video for Ado’s song Vivarium was recently released on YouTube.

Marking her first music video to feature her own on-screen performance, the work was directed by Hiyotaro Hayashi and produced by Mizuki Ohno of ACROBAT FILM. The video also offers brief glimpses of Ado’s face for the first time.

Vivarium is based on the autobiographical nonfiction novel "Vivarium: Ado and Me", published on February 26th. The track was arranged by Takayoshi “CO-K", who serves as the bandmaster for Ado’s live performances. The song aims to portray Ado's "search for light while struggling with self-denial."

Ado commented:

“This is my first live-action music video, and I think it’s truly worth watching. There are some fairly intense scenes, so viewers might find certain parts a bit overwhelming…(laughs). I personally performed the water scenes, so I really hope you’ll pay close attention to those — I got completely soaked. I also look a little desperate in the running scenes, which makes me laugh now…but running in heels was actually pretty tough (laughs).

That said, this is an extremely important piece for both the song Vivarium and the novel 'Vivarium: Ado and Me'. No matter the format, it’s all me. I hope you’ll watch it again and again.”

Director Hiyotaro Hayashi commented:

“I felt a strong sense of determination from this song. It resonated with my own current approach to filming live-action works, which is why I decided to take on this challenge together. Through the song’s words and reverberations, I wanted to powerfully express both hope for the future and the steadfast attitude Ado has maintained — as a singer and as a person — toward the music she has created and nurtured. With that in mind, I carefully wove each element together.”

Producer Mizuki Ohno commented:

“‘Ado is me.’ We cherished the determination conveyed in her words and captured all of her inner cries and emotions within the frame of this video. Please take a look at where she stands now — struggling, yet never giving up on challenging herself.”
