LUNA SEA's Shinya Passes Away

Rock band LUNA SEA have announced their drummer Shinya passed away at 6:16pm on February 17th at the age of 56.

In September 2025, Shinya revealed he'd recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor, in addition to the stage-four colon cancer he was treated for in 2020. According to the band's statement, he had undergone seven operations and was hoping to appear at the rescheduled LUNATIC X'MAS 2025, due to held on March 12th, when his condition worsened unexpectedly.

LUNA SEA thanked fans for all the support they've shown for Shinya, and said a public memorial event will be held at a later date.
