New Digital Single from The Shamisenists

Instrumental trio The Shamisenists released a new digital single on March 28th.

Titled SAKURA, the release is said to feature the band, which consists of two shamisen players (lead and bass) and a drummer, taking a new approach by performing with a keyboardist. It features two tracks: the title song and Walking On The Moon. The title of the latter was inspired by a song from The Police, as Sting is one of group member JACK's favourite musicians.

The Shamisenists are currently on tour. They will also perform at the Brand-New TRAD 2022 event in Okinawa City on May 14th, along with the Minyo Crusaders and THE SAKISHIMA meeting (Yukito Shinra x Isamu Shimoji). The event will be held the day before the 50th anniversary of Okinawa being returned to Japan. More details on the band's upcoming performances are available on their official website.
