Rapper Awich made her major debut with a new digital single titled Shook Shook on July 15th.
The song is a preceding single from her upcoming EP, Partition, which is set to hit stores via Universal Music Group on August 21st. The track was produced by Chaki Zulu, who also produced all of the other songs on the EP, and it's
described as a "rattling number showcasing Awich’s flow at its hardest, seamlessly transitioning from Japanese to English as she sets her sights on the male-centric music industry".
A music video for the track directed by Kento Yamada has also already been revealed on YouTube.

Awich's stage name is short for "Asia Wish Child," which is taken from her birth name "Akiko". Hailing from Okinawa, Awich first encountered hip-hop through listening to Tupac’s All Eyes on Me when she was 13. She was
featured on the local hip hop compilation album Orion Beat showcasing various Okinawan artists at 14 years old, and in 2006 she released her debut EP Inner Research and relocated to Atlanta to attend school.
During her time in the US, she married a New York native and gave birth to her daughter. In 2011, the family was preparing for a move back to Okinawa when her husband was shot and murdered. Awich returned home with her daughter and faced
a period of intense depression and self-questioning. However, she emerged from this period of introspection stronger than ever.
Awich was featured on Red Bull and 88rising’s long form documentary Asia Rising: The Next Generation of Hip Hop. She’s also done collaborations with the likes of Polish rapper Tymek and Brazilian MC Krawk, among others.
