, a new nine-member girl group, just released their "pre-debut" mini-album Make you happy
digitally in Japan and Korea on June 30th. The mini-album will become available for download and streaming
worldwide on July 1st.
The group was formed from the nine finalists of "Nizi Project", a Hulu Japan competition reality show that was launched as a joint venture between Sony Music Japan and JYP Entertainment, the management company
behind popular South Korean acts such as 2PM
and Stray Kids
. Fans who haven't seen the show can watch it with English subtitles on NiziU
's YouTube channel
, although the videos are being released on a delayed schedule, so the final episodes are not available
The audition project began in summer 2019, with the two companies aiming to create a Japanese girl group that could capture the essence of K-pop and aim for global activities. The group will be produced by JYP Entertainment, their music will be released on Sony Music Japan,
and they will be co-managed by both companies.
