Osaka's "dark witch doom duo" BlackLab recently announced that they will be releasing a new album on May 8th.
Abyss will be released by British label New Heavy Sounds. It will contain eight tracks, and it was produced by Jun Morino in Osaka, and mixed in London by Wayne Adams. Recorded under a full moon over
three intense days, the sound of the album is described as "a fat dose of doom meets slowed down hardcore punk; filled
with loud, ultra distorted guitar, and yet, a surprising amount of melody as well".
The album will be available in a limited edition transparent green and black vinyl version that's accompanied by a free download, as well as CD and digital versions. Pre-order the physical release here and
or a digital version here.
In addition, the duo will be performing outside Japan for the very first time this year. They will be taking the stage at Desertfest, an event that is described
as "the UK's leading weekend of stoner rock, doom, psych and everything-in-between". The festival will be taking place at various locations in London from May 1st to 3rd. BlackLab will be performing at The Underworld on May 1st. Tickets for the
event are available here.
BlackLab consists of guitarist and vocalist Yuko Morino and drummer Chia Shiraishi. The band's name was inspired by the bands Black Sabbath and Stereolab. Fans can follow BlackLab's official Facebook page to
