Rock band NOISEMAKER will release a new mini-album on January 23rd.
RARA will feature seven tracks, and it will be their sixth mini-album in total. The title comes from the Latin phrase "Amicus verus est rara avis", which means "A true friend is a rare bird". They selected the word "rara" with the message "all people are special" in mind.
In addition, the jacket art for the release was painted as a mural on a massive 12-metre wall in Shibuya by New York-based street artist WK Interact. He created the design specifically for the band, and it took three days and a night to complete.
NOISEMAKER's vocalist AG is also a visual artist. He officially started an art project called DOTS COLLECTIVE with his brother, the band's guitarist HIDE, earlier this year and also recently created the jacket art for NOISEMAKER's July single Wings. In a comment about the release, AG stated that WK Interact has influenced his artwork, so this mini-album has allowed him to fuse his musical roots with some of his roots as an artist. The mural will only be up until the end of 2018, so the members have encouraged fans to visit and share their pictures and reactions with the hashtag "#RARA_PROJECT_Shibuya" to ensure that as many people get to see it as possible.
