Komuro Tetsuya Announces Retirement

Veteran producer calls time on his 35-year music career.

Music producer Komuro Tetsuya has announced his retirement from the industry.

The announcement, which was made on January 19th, followed the publication of an article by the magazine Shukan Bunshun that accused Komuro of having engaged in an extramarital affair. This brings to an end a 35-year career which saw Komuro exert enormous influence over 90s J-pop, helping to launch the career of Amuro Namie and to establish Avex as a major label.

It's currently unclear what this means for the future of PANDORA, a duo Komuro recently formed with T.M.REVOLUTION composer Asakura Daisuke.

Five days after the announcement, they released the single Be The One, which currently serves as the opening theme for the TV series "Kamen Rider Build". An excerpt of the title track's music video can be viewed below:
