Japan Nite to Celebrate 20th Anniversary at SXSW

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Japan Nite showcase, which has brought an exciting mix of popular and up-and-coming Japanese acts to the US each year since its inception. Past guests have included big names like Bonnie Pink, The Pillows and Chatmonchy, as well as dozens of others.

The tour's 20th anniversary show at SXSW will feature seven acts: J-pop duo moumoon, chillwave-influenced synth rockers The fin., hard rock band QUORUM, all-girl rock trio TsuShiMaMiRe, alt country/folk band Pirates Canoe, punk/folk band Samurai Dynamites and alternative rockers Mahoshojo-ni-naritai. It will be held on March 20th at Elysium (705 Red River).

Afterwards, Japan Nite will set out on a tour of the United States, featuring TsuShiMaMiRe, QUORUM and The fin. on every date. Japanese rock outfits Zarigani$ and BO-PEEP will join for the first four dates, while Samurai Dynamites will be along for the first trio of shows. Wonky Saitama group mothercoat will offer support at the March 27 show in Denver.
