Despite the image portrayed by the band's cybernetic-rock style and the childish vocals, metronome was a very deep band who used their lyrics to explore the ideas of technology taking over humanity.

The band claimed to be time travelers from the year 2005, who went back in time to 1998 in order to improve their record sales. However, when the year 2005 rolled around, they quickly dropped that story.

metronome went on hiatus in 2009, and the members each pursued a number of other projects before reuniting in 2016. They released their first new studio album in nine years, CONTINUE, in March 2017.
