THE BEATMOTORS is a rock band that was formed in 2004. While they are heavily influenced by old school rock 'n’ roll of the 60s and 70s, they stand out from other retro revival acts because of their intensity and the loud, sometimes rather surly-sounding vocals of frontman Masashi Akiba.

Despite their aggressive sound, THE BEATMOTORS also approach their work with a strong sense of humour and an almost child-like exuberance—both of which are most obvious in their music videos. For example, the video for Kirei na shoujo features the band members playing their instruments completely naked, acting as if nothing unusual is happening.
