GalapagosS draws its name from the Galapagos syndrome - a phenomenon in which a branch of a product that is available globally develops isolated characteristics. The band's sound incorporates an energetic mix of rock, punk, pop, new wave and vintage video game noises, however, they also stress the fact that their music contains elements specific to their culture. For example, vocalist Sharaku describes the band as having “lyrics and melancholic melodies like Japanese Kayokyoku (traditional Japanese pop music).”

While GalapagosS is still a relatively small indie band, its members are eager to tour worldwide, and they have already ventured to Europe in the past.
