Aoi started his solo career after the breakup of Ayabie in 2010. Riding on the popularity of Ayabie, he remained with Tokuma Japan, putting out no less than nine new releases throughout 2010 and 2011.

In August 2012, Aoi moved onto another musical project, called 168 -one sixty eight-.
