Suzuki Ami was huge in Japan from 1998 to 2000, at which point she disappeared from the scene thanks to legal issues with her label. She returned on a new label (Avex Trax) in 2005 with her comeback single, Delightful, a dance song that reached No. 3 on the Japanese Oricon charts and became one of 2005’s summer hits.

Her sound and look are often compared to those of Ayumi Hamasaki, her main competitor. Her older stuff consisted of typical pop songs, while her post-2005 material features a lot of electronica elements.
