GRAVITY

TRF

Just one month after TRF’s release of Memorial Snow/CLOSURE, the eagerly awaited new studio album GRAVITY came out. Twelve songs were burned on this disc, and in the limited press edition there's also a DVD full of highlights.

As usual, TRF starts with a very witty intro to a colourful dance world. lights and any more and iNNOVATiON sparkle of fire and they are very entertaining; in the latter one you are drawn into a mysterious, Oriental world. Uncontrollable keeps up the train of pulsating tracks with a lot of groove and a spaced out bridge. However, the subsequent song is of an easy nature. CLOSURE changes the mood from hot to cool, but the ballad isn’t out of place and doesn’t slow down the album either. Fake and Fate increases the pace again and sounds like something heard in a smoky bar but for the warning undertone, which is exactly what makes the track interesting.

With virtual sea, you’re taken on a trip to a mysterious world made of pulsating beats. The dynamic catchy tune would make this song an instant hit on discos all over the world. The single Live Your Days can easily be described as a colourful party tune, and it's easy to sing along to. The real power house in this section of the album, however, is Charge my life. This is a party song full of energy, and even its electric guitar sound delights. The last two songs of the album are a sensitive ballad with a rocky ambiance titled Broken Flower and the ballad-like Memorial Snow, which is pretty enchanting.

For those who can’t get enough of TRF, turn to the limited edition and get the enclosed DVD. The music video for Uncontrollable is featured in two versions, and the DVD also includes TRF NONSTOP VJ MEGAMIX 1992-2009, which consists of several short music clips mixed together by DJ KOO himself.

While there isn't a feeling of “gravity” from this album, the action is undoubtedly there. The track list is varied, well-balanced and offers something to every TRF fan, and iNNOVATiON, CLOSURE or Charge my life can appeal to anyone.
