misono - Speedrive

Almost a year after the disbandment of day after tomorrow, misono released her own single, Speedrive. It features all the speed and adrenalin implied in its title.

The single sounds like it’s called: roaring engines, squeaking tires and strong rock melodies combine for a fast track, which remind in parts of Gackt’s song Mirror. The whole is spruced up by bright synthesizer sounds, trumpets and saxophone melodies. The B-side is also a lively and dynamic track on the disc. It's more predominantly rock, and through the effect of a censor tone, which is normally used to distort curse words, a pretty lively impression is created.

The only shortfall is Ari to kirigirisu ~10 years later~. misono’s vocals aren't wholly convincing, which is a pity. The instrumental versions are also included on the single, allowing you to fully concentrate on the musical composition, even if the background vocals remain.

Despite the interesting topic of the single, it is a bit strange for first-time listeners. It has its advantages and disadvantages. misono’s Speedrive isn't all bad, particularly the title track, but you should know that the search for pure pop sound would be futile. For fans of the pop-rock genre, the single is worth a try.
