Janne Da Arc - EDEN ~kimi ga inai~

Another good release by Janne Da Arc.

EDEN ~kimi ga inai~

Janne Da Arc

At the beginning of 2000, the third Janne Da Arc single promoting the album GAIA was released: EDEN ~kimi ga inai~. It features two song with similar atmospheres, the title track and Vanish.

EDEN ~ kimi ga inai ~ begins with yasu’s very lyrical voice, which is accompanied by subtle acoustic guitar as well as keys. A bit later, the whole song speeds up, presenting kiyo’s talent at composing in an interesting way. The song also has a lot of layers: the listener can hear interesting drums, discreet keys and even acoustic guitar, which at one point becomes the only instrument accompanying the vocals. Despite such variety, all the elements perfectly complement each other, creating an unusually attractive piece of music.

Vanish is less catchy than its predecessor, but possesses an excellent melodic line as well as a memorable chorus. This song is a bit heavier than EDEN ~ kimi ga inai ~, and because of that it doesn’t allow you to stay calm while listening. It also catches your attention with an amazing guitar solo that is a bit slower from the rhythm of the whole song - this is the time to rest a bit.

After the second listen, you will stop wondering – if you ever did – what gives Janne Da Arc their current high position. These two pieces were made to perfection, and some parts are absolutely enchanting. It’s certainly worth listening to.
