Part of the EXILE TRIBE collective, WOLF HOWL HARMONY is a four-member boy group that was formed through a competition called iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~. GHEE and HIROTO won the competition, which had nearly 48,000 participants, while RYOJI and SUZUKI, who were previously part of the chorus group DEEP SQUAD, joined the competition in its second chapter.

Earlier this year, WOLF HOWL HARMONY released a trilogy of digital singles based around the theme of "youth." Their latest single ROLLIN' STONES, an uplifting, anthemic song about resilience and overcoming defeat, just hit digital platforms on October 11th, and it was recently announced that their first album WOLF is due out on March 12th, 2025.

Shortly after the release of ROLLIN' STONES, JaME had the opportunity to ask this rising group a few quick questions about their recent works and their unique appeal within EXILE TRIBE.

For any readers who have not had a chance to listen to your work yet, how would you describe WOLF HOWL HARMONY’s style as a group? Is there anything you feel that makes your group stand out among the units from EXILE TRIBE?

SUZUKI: Many people may have a strong image of EXILE TRIBE as a dance group, but we are a group focusing on singing, rapping, and the messages of our songs. We are also the smallest group with four members among those in the EXILE TRIBE, which makes it easier to see each member's character and voice. This is one of our unique characteristics.

GHEE: We are EXILE TRIBE's first four-member vocal & rap group specializing in vocals and rapping. I think the big difference between us and other units is that we are small in number. We also don't have performers, so I think this is a feature that sets us apart from other groups.

What would you like listeners to notice about your single ROLLIN’ STONES?

RYOJI: I’d love for you to listen to it along with the lyrics! This is a cheering song for everyone who is working hard, and people who are working hard probably have a hard time affirming that they are working hard; there may be times where they doubt their efforts. I believe that the lyrics will resonate with people who keep pushing themselves despite that, and I would be happy if this message reaches them properly - that it is wonderful that you are working hard at whatever you are doing!

HIROTO: I especially want you to pay attention to the lyrics! This is the first support song for WOLF HOWL HARMONY, and we believe that our job as artists is not only to deliver our performance but also to give energy, hope and dreams to everyone. I would be happy if this song reaches all the people who are working hard, whether at school, at work, in clubs, or in their dreams, in addition to those who support us every day!

As ROLLIN’ STONES is a song about resilience and rising from defeat, when you’re feeling down, what is something that helps lift your spirits?

GHEE: It is music, after all. I listen to my favorite songs to improve my mood, so music helps me a lot! I also really like to watch cute videos of animals.

HIROTO: I am helped daily by the supportive comments I receive from LOVERED (WOLF HOWL HARMONY's fans)! I am also the type of person who, once I take a day off to relax, can move with maximum motivation the next day!

You released a trilogy of singles based on the theme of “youth” earlier this year. Which of those songs is your favorite to perform live, and why?

RYOJI: Mine is PIERCE! This song is based on the theme of youth, and during the performance, I can suddenly think back to my youth and feel like I am experiencing it together with the audience! The choreography is catchy, so I am very happy when some of the audience members join in with me!

SUZUKI: Mine is Pink Flash Lights! I feel that the bright atmosphere and fresh melody of this song will enliven the audience. When we are actually performing, the members make eye contact with each other and have fun while shouting out to each other.

You collaborated with PSYCHIC FEVER on the song YIN YANG for this year’s BATTLE OF TOKYO event. What was that experience like? Do any moments stand out in your memory?

GHEE: The most memorable moment for us was when we went up on the BOT stage and performed with PSYCHIC FEVER. It was a great opportunity for us to grow. I learned a lot from the rehearsals because I usually cannot see the rehearsals of the seniors, Once again, I thought the seniors were cool.

HIROTO: I’ve always loved BOT, and my goal was to release a VS song, and I also liked PSYCHIC FEVER so much that I went to see their pre-debut training program, so I was really happy. There were many things I could learn while working with them! I was very impressed with the part where we faced each other at the beginning of the song at the BOT stage at Saitama Super Arena!

JaME would like to thank WOLF HOWL HARMONY, Bianca Balderas and Geezerbuild for making this interview possible.
