CROSSFAITH dropped their fourth EP SPECIES this May, and with it three sleek MVs. SPECIES is their first release since 2018, and fans have been patiently waiting ever since for their next installment. If you’re already a fan of CROSSFAITH, then this release will solidify your stance. And if you’re new, then buckle up for an EP that showcases their genius.

SPECIES opens with a bang. Lead vocalist Koie Kenta screams his way into listeners' ears on the first track, Digital Parasite. This track definitely sets the tone for the rest of the EP, giving fans the classic CROSSFAITH sound they know and love. Heavy, but mixed with electronics, and perfect for front row headbanging. The lyrics are striking as well, with the focus being on an infection of the digital world we now live in. This refreshing take on how we are affected by it makes this track pretty thought-provoking too. You can watch the insane MV below!

Endorphin is the second track. Its strong opening and game-like beat will vibrate in your eardrums for days. The complexity of Endorphin is raw but somehow also polished, a sound that CROSSFAITH seem to have mastered. Make sure to check out the song's monochromatic MV.

Truth Of Insanity really gives off those old skool, '00s numetal vibes. The chorus is on an epic scale, and it blasts this album wide open, which is how the mosh pits will be when the breakdown hits the crowd. Truth Of Insanity is truly a song that needs to be seen live for the full experience.

One track that specifically stands out is None Of Your Business. It features Jin Dogg, the fiery rapper from Osaka. You won’t be able to stop yourself bobbing your head to the rhythmic beat. The blend of rap and hardcore is seamless on this track, and it takes the album to a whole other level. The distorted MV is worth a look as well, and you can see Jin Dogg in action too!

Your Song is the final track. It has an almost melancholic tone, and there’s a deep-rooted emotion in Koie’s voice during the heavy-hearted chorus. It serves as a perfect closing track to round off the EP.

As the follow up to Ex_Machina, SPECIES does not disappoint. The invigorating pulse of drums and electronics are true to their sound, and with Koie’s powerful vocals over the top, it’s foolproof. SPECIES is bold, loud and on brand for CROSSFAITH and as usual, their execution is incredible.
