NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST at Underworld, London

Metalcore band NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST takes London by the devil's horns and party the night away!

In the cosy basement of London’s Underworld venue on July 15th fans of metalcore band NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST waited eagerly, some crushing as close to the stage as possible to get nearer to their idols, as the minutes counted down to the show. Right on cue, the lights shut off, leaving the room blackened for a split second before a dull haze shimmered over the stage and the band entered to collect their instruments. The crowd’s screams were deafening and they surged again as Punch me if you can opened as the first song tonight.

The energy was already clear as each member of the band put all of their strength and power into their performances. Vocalist Hiro led the way, enthralling the crowd with his impressive set of lungs, whilst guitarist Cazqui spun and flipped his guitar expertly. Given that the space on stage was so tight, it was a wonder that he didn’t hit someone with his instrument.

Hiro’s frontman style was something to behold as he played to the crowd, creating such an atmosphere that it was clear he wanted each and every person to get the most out of tonight. He encouraged participation, backed up by head-banging galore from the men on stage. From the mosh pit at the very front, all the way to the back where fans gripped the balcony rails tight, the crowd rocked out as hard as they could to the lusciously heavy and melodic tracks.

There was even a little bit of light humour tonight as Hiro asked the crowd “Who has come here tonight who has not heard of us before?” and then carried on with laughter as a few in the crowd cheered. But this didn’t matter. Even if you had never heard of NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST before, after tonight there was a very good chance you would be leaving as a new fan, or at the very least, you would be leaving full of respect for their talent and showmanship.

If there was one drawback of the gig tonight it would be the shortness of the encore. After the intensity and drama of the main set, the encore was short and sweet. GENESIS and V.I.P finished the set. The band ended the show with just as much energy as they began the night with, never faltering once. As the gig came to a final close the band said their goodbyes and departed once more backstage. The crowd dispersed either in a euphoric daze or still full of excitement as they made their way to the merchandise stand or the exit.

NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST absolutely smashed it tonight. They never once lost an ounce of spirit, playing with great skill and displaying their brilliance on such a tiny stage. It was up close and personal, each band member reached out to all in the venue, giving each and every one of us a show to remember.
